寂光院の紅葉

 

先日、家内と愛知県犬山にある寂光院に行ってきた。寂光院は美しい紅葉で有名な寺だ。
　実は、３年前にこの寺を訪れたことがあり、紅葉が光を浴びて燃えているかのように見え、とても感動した。赤い炎は山を覆い、息を呑むほどに美しく、圧倒された。
　しかし、昨日は薄曇りで、モミジの葉は思ったほど鮮やかではなく、ややくすんんだ赤で、がっかりした。3年前のような素晴らしい秋の紅葉はもう二度と見られないかもしれない。

 

RED LEAVES IN  JAKKOIN TEMPLE

 

Yesterday I went to Jakkoin Temple in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture with my wife. The temple is famous for its beautiful autumn maple trees.

   I visited the temple three years ago. I was greatly moved to see the red leaves reflecting the bright sunlight. They looked as if they were burning. The scenery of the flames covering the mountain was stunning and overwhelming.
  Yesterday, however, the sky was slightly overcast. The leaves were not so vivid as I had expected. They were rather darkish red. I was disappointed. I am afraid I will never see such splendid autumn leaves as I saw three years ago.
