MY JACKET WAS HAPPY, TOO

MY JACKET WAS HAPPY, TOO

When I got on a Canadian Airlines flight at Toronto Airport to fly back to Japan, I was wearing a quilted jacket because I thought it would be cold on board. The plane, however, became warm after three or four hours’ flight. So, I took it off and put it in a cabinet above my head.

After several more hours passed, the plane landed on Narita Airport. I got off the plane completely forgetting about my jacket. It was unexpectedly very warm and humid in Narita Airport compared to the climate in Toronto. I waited for three hours in Narita and took a Japan Airlines flight to Chubu Centrair Airport.

were I young
would I have remembered
the jacket?

It was only after I returned to my house and opened my baggage that I realized that I had left my jacket in the CA plane. I was disappointed. I thought I could not retrieve it because I guessed that the plane had already flown back to Canada by that time.

I missed the jacket. It fitted my body perfectly. It had four pockets. It was light and compactly foldable. I loved to wear it. I regretted to have left it behind in the plane.

The next morning I called the Canada Airlines at Narita Airport with a ray of hope. A staff member on the other end of the line responded that she would contact with the passenger section. She asked me the flight number, my seat location, and the characteristics of my jacket. She also asked my name, telephone number, and address.

Later that afternoon, she called me saying that they had found my jacket and that they would send it to me cash on delivery. To my surprise and joy, a mailman delivered the jacket to my house the next morning. I paid only 950 yen for the delivery.

I would like to express my thanks for the trouble the Canadian Airlines staff went throught.

I was happy
so was my jacket
to unite with me
