三国志
「三国志」（月～金曜、BSフジ）全９５話がついに終了した。どの話もとても面白かった。AD180年から280年まで約100年間にわたる魏（曹操）、蜀（劉備）、呉（孫権）の勢力争いや、周瑜、張飛、関羽、孔明の活躍は見応えがあった。特に「赤壁の戦い」「泣いて馬謖を斬る」「空城の計」「死せる孔明生ける仲達を走らしむ」などは圧巻であった。また、諸葛亮が五丈原で死ぬ場面を見て、50年以上も前、高校の中国史の授業で覚えた「星落秋風五丈原」の歌を思い出した。最終回の司馬懿の渋い演技も良かった。あのような素晴らしいドラマはもう二度とないだろう。

Grass is dry and horses are stout
Yet, Shu banners look dull
No drums or whistles heard
Prime minister in critical condition
星落秋風五丈原 土井晩翠作
祁山悲秋の風更けて （きざんひしゅうのかぜふけて）
陣雲暗し五丈原、 （じんうんくらし ごじょうげん）

A Chinese TV drama “Three Kingdoms”
ended on August 13. It consisted of 95 installments and was broadcast from
Monday through Friday on the BS Fuji channel for about 5 months. I enjoyed each
episode to my heart’s content.
The drama depicted the conflicts among the three kingdoms around
180-280 AD: Wei (魏), Shu (蜀), and Wu (吳), led by Cao Cao(曹操),
Liu Bei (劉備), Sun Quan（孫権）respectively.
Chuko Liang Kongming (諸葛亮孔明), Zhou Yu (周瑜),
Zhang Fei (張飛), and Guan Yu (関羽)
were the super heroes in the story. I particularly loved the famous scenes such
as “The Battle of the Red Cliff,” “Beheading Ma Su (馬謖)
in Tears,” “The Empty Castle Trap,” and “Living Zhongda (仲達)
Flees at the Sight of Dead Kongming (孔明).”
When I saw the episode when Kongming (孔明)
died of illness at the Battle of Wuzhang Plains (五丈原),
I remembered the song I had learned in my high school history class more than
50 years ago. The song’s name was “Falling
Star in Autumn Wind in Wuzhang Plains (星落秋風五丈原).”I
liked Sima Yi (司馬懿) in the drama, who played the
role of a cautious but crafty schemer.
On the whole I don’t think I will see a more exciting drama than
“Three Kingdoms.”
