新作落語 AN ORIGINAL RAKUGO SOTY

　最近、芥川龍之介の「蜘蛛の糸」のパロディ「御釈迦様の御放屁」と言う短編を書いたところ、それを読んでくださったある読者の方がこれは面白いから是非落語にして新作落語として応募したらと、勧められました。彼女は落語協会主催の新作落語台本募集案内を切り抜いて私にくれましたが、残念ながら締め切りは６月３０日でした。あちこちネットをブラウズしていましたら、上方落語大賞作品を募集しているサイトがありました。運よく締め切りは９月３０日です。あと２カ月あります。いろいろ落語台本を研究して、応募しようと思っています。
以前、講談の台本「左甚五郎」を書いてある女流講談師に失礼を顧みず渡したことがありますが、今度は落語台本に挑戦です。人生面白くなってきました。

 

MY ORIGINAL RAKUGO SOTY

Recently I wrote a short story, “Buddha’s Fart,” a parody of “The Spider’s Thread” written by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. A woman who enjoyed reading the story suggested that I rewrite it into a rakugo (a comic-story telling) and apply it for the Rakugo Story Contest sponsored by the Kamikata Rakugo Association. The deadline is September 30. I have two more months to go. Now I am studying how to write a rakugo story. I am listening to and reading as many rakugo as possible. I am glad that I have a new thing to do thanks to her.

 

パレスチナのシェクスピア劇 DIFFERENT SHAKESPEAR SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS IN PALESTINE

私は月二回シェクスピア講座に出席しているが、先日面白いことを習った。
パレスチナの高校生はガザ地区と西岸地区で、異なったシェクスピアの戯曲を勉強している。ガザ地区では「リア王」を使い、西岸地区では「ロミオとジュリエット」を使っている。なぜ同じパレスチナで違うのか。
それは、両地区ともイスラム教であるが、ガザ地区は保守的で戒律が厳しく、西岸地区はそれほどでもない。従って、自由恋愛、自殺、家柄軽視、婚前交渉などが描かれている「ロミオとジュリエット」はガザ地区にはそぐわない。これに対して、「リア王」は親に忠義を尽くす娘を描いているからガザ地区の方針に合致するわけである。
日本では考えられない話だ。

DIFFERENT SHAKESPEARE'S TEXTBOOKS IN PALESTINE

 

I attend a Shakespeare class taught by Michael Kruse, a teacher at Chukyo University twice a week. The other day I knew something interesting about his dramas.
　　Palestinian high school students study Shakespeare’s works at school but the textbook used in the Gaza Strip and the one used in the West Bank are different. The students in the Gaza Strip study “King Lear,” while the students in the West Bank study “Romeo and Juliet.” Why the difference?
　　People in both districts believe in Islam, but the Muslims in the Gaza Strip strictly adhere to Islamic law, while those in the West Bank are not so strict. Therefore, “Romeo and Juliet,” which describes love, suicides, disregard for family, and premarital intercourse, are not suitable to be used in the Gaza Strip, while “King Lear,” which deals with a faithful daughter to her father, is suitable in the West Bank.
　　Such a discrepancy never happens in Japan.
