南山男子部校舎と５０年　

　南山中高等学校（男子部）の新校舎が建てられることになり、工事が来月から始まるそうだ。

私が男子部に赴任したのは昭和４１年（１９６６年）である。当時千種高校の非常勤講師をしている時に、南山大学のN教授から男子部で教鞭をとるようにと言われた。面接をしてオーケーが出て、それ以来、高校校舎とは平成２０年（２００８）に退職するまで４３年間、退職してから今日まで英語読書会で使わせてもらっていたのが７年間、合計５０年のつきあいである。中学校舎は３５年ぐらい前にできたから、これも長い付き合いだ。

　万物流転であるから、今の校舎を取り壊すのは致し方ないことであるが、７２年の人生のうちの５０年を過ごした建物が消えてなくなるのはいかにも残念だ。

　２月末日、南山に行って思い出多い校舎の写真を撮ってきた。卒業生諸君、どこの写真かわかりますか。

 

　　The construction of  a new building for Nanzan Boys’ Junior and Senior High School starts in April. I feel sorry about the demolition of the present building which is full of fond memories for me.

　　In 1965 when I was working for Chigusa High School as a part time teacher, the late professor N. asked me to teach at Nanzan. I passed the interview test and became a full time teacher in 1966. From that time on I taught at Nanzan for 43 years until I retired in 2008. After retirement, I have come to Nanzan to attend the TIME magazine reading meeting once a month for seven years. Therefore, altogether, my relationship with the high school building has lasted fifty years. (Nanzan Junior High School building was constructed about 35 years ago. My relationship with this building is also long.)

　　Everything is constantly changing. So, the present building will never remain the same. It must be demolished someday. It can’t be helped, I know, but I feel sorry and sad that it will disappear from my eyes forever.
