I was walking in the forest.
I met with a Do-do.
She said to me,
“You will become extinct soon.”
And disappeared.
Was it a dream?
I was swimming in the sea.
I met with the Titanic,
She said to me,
“Your land will sink soon.”
And disappeared.
Was it a dream?
I was walking in New York.
I met with the Twin Towers.
She said to me,
“You will be attacked soon.”
And disappeared.
Was it a dream?
I was traveling in the space.
I met with the Earth,
The planet that was once alive.
She said to me,
“You were once alive, too.”
And disappeared.
Was it a dream?
I was walking in the forest.
I saw a bird at the top of a tree.
It flew down to me and said,
“What a beautiful day!”
And flew away.
It was not a dream.
Matsuoka-sensei,
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful poem. I think poetry is a wonderful way of reviewing and (re)organizing your thoughts and emotions. It also allows others to see the world in a new light. By connecting some unconnected dots, your poem invited me to actually feel what I might/should have felt. Thank you for that.
Charlie,
ReplyDeleteThank you. This is the first poem I have ever written.

僕ならば"a beautiful day"と答えます。
