今日は私の誕生日

今日は私の誕生日だ。７７歳になった。私の父は７６歳のときに脳梗塞になり、半身不随で６年間も病院生活を送り、８２歳で亡くなった。だから父の健常者としての生活は７６歳で終わったことになる。また、私の祖父は７５歳で亡くなっている。

こう考えると、７７歳の今,私は父よりも、祖父よりも長く生きたことになる。７６歳というのは、若いころはずいぶんと年寄りと思っていたが、実際その年齢になると、そうは思わない。今のところ私は元気だから、父も祖父もこんなに若くして亡くなったのかと思うと、早すぎたと思う。

幸い私の曽祖父は９０歳まで生きたから、父と祖父を乗り越えた今、曾祖父よりも長く生きることを目指したい。

Today Is My Birthday

Today is my 77^th birthday. My father suffered cerebral infarction at the age of 76 and suffered partial paralysis for six years, and died at the age of     82. His healthy life, I should say, ended at the age of 76. My grandfather died at the age of 75.

Considering this, I am 77 and survived them. When I was young, I thought 76-year-old people were very very old, but I don’t think I am so old. Luckily, I am healthy. I think my father and grandfather died too early.

Fortunately, my great grandfather died at the age of 90. My aim now is to survive my great grandfather.

「パラサイト」の疑問点　

　韓国映画「パラサイト」が四部門でアカデミー賞を受賞した。賞賛されるにふさわしい作品だとは思うが、私は意見を異にする。勿論、「パラサイト」は持てる者と持たざる者のギャップをうまく描写している。パク家は呑気でリッチな生活を送っている一方、キム家は生きるか死ぬかの生活である。階段を駆け下りるシーンは上級階級と下層階級の象徴としてうまく提示されている。またキム家が半地下の家に住んでいることは、家の上半分（地上に出ている）は太陽の光が差し込むが、家の下半分は暗闇である。パク家の邸宅は陽の光を一杯浴びている。グエンセは、地下室に住んでいるから完全に光の恩恵を被っていない。要するに、裕福であればあるほど太陽の光の恩恵に預かるのだ。

しかしながら、映画のエンディングは残忍すぎ、凄惨すぎ、残酷すぎ、殺戮的すぎで、映画館を出ると吐き気がした。カラバッチョの血なまぐさい絵画を見た後、美術館を出た後の気持ちと同じであった。



　このほかに、三点疑問点がある。

①  映画の終わりにキムは地下室からモールス信号を息子に送るが、彼は何時、どうやってモールス信号を習ったのか。

②  ダサンの誕生日パーティーにキム家の全員が招待されるが、彼らは綺麗な、乾いた、きちんとした服を着ていた。しかし、彼らの服も家具もすべての持ち物が大雨に濡れ台無しになっているはずなのに、どうやってあの清潔な服を着ることができたのか。

③  インディアンのテントにいたダサンは居間にいる父親とモールス信号で更新する場面があるが、この場面は何のためにあったのか。クライマックスでダサンのモールス信号が効果的に使われていない。伏線でも何でもなかったのには落胆した。監督はなぜ少年にモールス信号を使わせなかったのか。

Some Questions about “Parasite” 

The Korean movie “Parasite” won four Academy awards. It may be worthy of admiration, but I have a different opinion.

I admit that the movie depicts the gap between the haves and have-nots very well. The Parks spend a nonchalant and luxurious  life while the poor Kims are on the verge of life and death. The staircase scene is well presented as a symbol of the high class and the low class. Also, their subterranean dwelling shows that they are half blessed with sunlight and half "blessed" with darkness, while the Park family enjoys abundance of sunshine. Geun-Se, living in the basement, is totally deprived of sunshine. In short, the richer you are, the more sunlight you have access to.

However, the ending of the movie is so brutal, so savage, so cruel, so murderous that I felt like vomiting after I left the theater. I felt the same unpleasant feeling when I left the museum where I saw Caravaggio’s bloodshedding paintings.

Furthermore, I have three more questions:

(1) At the end of the film, Kim sends the Morse code to his son in the basement, but how and when did he learn how to send the Morse code?
 (2) When the whole members of the Kim family are invited to the birthday party for Da-sang, they attend the party wearing clean, dry, decent clothes, but all their belongings including clothes were ruined and drenched with the torrent of rain. How did they get the clean clothes?
(3) Da-sang, who is in the Indian tent, communicates with his father, who is in the living room. His skill should be used in a climax, but it was not utilized effectively. Why did the director have the boy use the Morse code?

麒麟が泣く 100 Times More Amusing

お粗末な「麒麟がくる」

　ＮＨＫの大河ドラマ「麒麟がくる」を第一回から第三回まで見たが、見るに堪えない。だいたい麒麟がくるとは何のことか。

　第一に演技がへた。第三回で女性が二人笑う場面があったが、作り笑いをしているようで、小学生の学芸会のような演技。出演者が本物の俳優ではなく、歌手とかテレビタレントとかで、演技の基本ができていない。視聴率を高めるためか人気タレントを起用しているから演技が軽い。。

　第二に台詞が素人でも書けそうな決まり文句の台詞で、もっとその場にふさわしい台詞にすべきで、脚本がまずい。

　第三に展開が面白くない。第三回までは、明智光秀の歴史的事実が分からないので、脚色家の想像力を発揮する絶好の機会であるのに、全然面白くない。光秀が堺に鉄砲と薬を取りに行くという設定はいいが、光秀は簡単に鉄砲を手に入れる。また、女性が美濃の歌を歌う場面があるが、歌の場面が長すぎる。あの場面では、自分は少女時代にこんな歌を聞いたことがあるということを視聴者に伝えればいいので、長々と歌う必要はない。

　第四に衣装がめちゃくちゃだ。明智光秀は毎回同じ派手な明るい緑色の衣装を着ている。だ。あの姿で畑仕事をしているが、あんな派手な衣装で畑仕事をするはずがない。

　第五に照明がまずい。廊下で二人の男が話す場面があるが、二人の間に夕陽が射しており、夕陽が画面いっぱいに光っていて、画面がまぶしくて見ておれない。私は目をつむって声を聞いていた。

　第六に画像全体の彩度が明るすぎる。草木や家屋や田畑など全体の画像が明るすぎて現実離れしている。もっと落ち着いた色合いが出せるのに、工夫をしていない。

　第七に音響効果が大げさだ。台詞や演技がまずいので音でごまかそうとしているようだ。

　私は見るに堪えかねて、第三回の途中でテレビを消した。あんなへたくそな、貧弱なドラマを見るのは時間の無駄である。

　その点、今見ている中国ドラマ「月に咲く花の如く」は毎回見ていて、主人公の女性に感情移入させられ、展開のうまさにうならせられる。役者の演技が絶品で、照明も抑えてあり、展開も毎回ハラハラドキドキで、音響効果もいい。展開も急と緩がうまく使われており素晴らしい。毎回次回が待ち遠しい。連続ドラマはこうでなくてはいけない。

　ＮＨＫの大河ドラマはは中国ドラマを見習うべきだ。中国ドラマの方が１０倍も１００倍も１０００倍もいい。

100 Times More Amusing

Unbearable “Kirin ga Kuru” (Kylin Comes)

　　I watched the first three episodes of the newly-started NHK drama series “Kirin ga Kuru” (kylin Comes). It was not worth watching. Here are some reasons:

1. Poor performance. While I was watching the third episode of “Kirin ga Kuru,” I saw two actresses laugh, but their laugh looked forced. Their performances were like elementary pupils’ in a school play. This is because some of the actors in the drama are not professional actors but popular singers or TV personalities. They haven’t studied the basics of acting. I blame  NHK because it uses such amateur actors for the sake of boosting the audience ratings.

2.  Poor development. Because nobody knows how the protagonist, Akechi Mitsuhide spent his boyhood, the scenario writer of the drama could have written the scenerio freely, but he failed. During one of the scenes in the third episode, Akechi goes to Sakai to purchase a gun and medicine, but he gets them without any difficulty. In another episode, a woman sings a song but she sung for too long a time. All she had to do was to show the viewers that she remembers some part of the lyric. Her song was boring.

3.  Poor choice of clothing. Akechi wears the same bright-colored green clothes every time he appears in the drama. He even wears them when he works in the wet farming lot. No samurai works in such a muddy place, clad in such gorgeous clothes.

4. Poor lighting. The setting sun in one of the scenes was so bright that I failed to see the faces of the two characters talking in the corridor. I had to close my eyes to avoid the brightness and listened to their conversation.

5.  Too bright color. The TV screen color of the drama is too vivid and brilliant. The grass, the houses, and the fields are so bright that they do not look real. The brightness of color should be toned down.

6.  Poor sound effect. The sound of the background music was so large and so unpleasant that it drowned the characters' conversation. The sound effect was poor, too. The producer of the drama should use the sound apporopriate to each scene.

　Thus, because the drama was unbearable to watch, I switched off the television. It was a waste of time to watch it.

　　Compared to this bad Japanese drama, the Chinese serial, “Tsuki ni Saku Hana no Gotoku” (Like the Flower That Blooms in the Moon月に咲く花の如く) is much better. I have seen all the episodes so far and never have I been disappointed at them. The main actress is so attractive and performs so perfectly that I empathize fully with her. The development of the drama is excellent. It enchants the viewers by an appropriate pace. It sometimes moves quickly and other times develops slowly. Every episode is full of nail-biting intensity. Moreover, the performance of each character is superb. The background music and sound effect are both wonderful. The set buildings look real. After watching each episode, I can’t wait till the next one.

Each episode is full of hints of how to make good dramas. NHK should learn from the Chinese drama. It is 100 times more amusing than the NHK’s.
